Luncheon with Hsiens and Chengs

CNY luncheon at one of my parents' favorite chinese restaurant. We had our fill of dim sum and lobsters (porridge, noodles). The food came and disappeared too fast for me to capture them. Maybe an X-ray of Nithe's stomach can reveal the stuffs we ate =) A really nice and happy CNY lunch.

*************

I forgot how much I love shopping with my mum.
  1. High waisted jeans from Topshop. Despite it being on sale, I was quite reluctant to buy it because I have too many jeans. I backed out when it was my turn to pay and my mum was like 'Oh high waisted, I can wear'. She tried it and managed to fit into it and ta dah. I'm pretty sure she won't wear it but it's my way of making her pay for it since I'm too stingy.
  2. Evening gown from BCBG for my cousin's wedding in March. I had no intention of getting a new gown since I can re-wear my old BCBG. I went to 'try for fun' and it turned out really nice so yay! new dress. All it took was 20 mins.
Oh and I juz collected all my F21 stuffs from my cousin-in-law. I wasn't expecting him to get any for me but surprisingly, they had ALL my items!

NHPS Track Alumni

I swear I haven't seen some of these people for over 10 years. I don't think I'll be able to recognize them even if they were sitting beside me on the bus. These are the coaches that discovered the talent in me. Joining track and field in primary school changed my life. Without them, there's no way I'll be where I am today.

and so you thought you knew them

CNY has never been something I'm super excited over, besides the fact that I get CNY shopping allowance. I'm not even anxious to count my collections. Last year, I think they remained unopened for like 3 months until my desk was too messy and I had to open/clear them.

Some facts I discovered about my family this CNY
  1. There are relatives that I've never met before. My granny's sister. Apparently there's some feud between them????
  2. My dad has a cousin who draws a month salary of $20 000. She's <35. She goes to Hawaii and Scotland to play golf.
  3. My dad's cousin's DAUGHTER is in primary 5 and is 1.72m tall.
  4. People escape visiting for fear of being asked 'THE QUESTION'. In a few years time, I'm gonna be shot that question too.

the confessions of a shopaholic

I have no idea how I came about hearing about this movie but I seriously can't wait for it to show. I love shopping but I don't consider myself to be a shopaholic? Maybe I can decide after reading the book. I have the ebook so anyone who's interested can let me know. I know of a few people who should definitely read it.

oscar movie marathon

I spent this CNY doing my Oscar homework. Completed "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", "Slumdog Millionaire", "Frost/Nixon" and "The Reader". Left with "Milk" and I'm set for 22 Feb =)

*****
My preference. I think some of the movies are too intellectual for me. Oh well....
  1. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  2. Slumdog Millionaire
  3. Milk
  4. Frost/Nixon
  5. The Reader

it's about time

Finally after 1 month, I get to touch my suede fringe bag from UO. At first, there were a little of fringe around. 1 month later, there's fringe everywhere. Argh... I juz hope that I'm not too late. This long waiting time is kinda a turn off for online shopping. If only I am living in States.......

more shoes again

lalala.... If you haven't heard, Pedder Red is having sale at Isetan Shaw Level 3. It's not like their previous sale events at Swissotel where their discounted shoes are still unaffordable. The shoes on sale this time round ranges from $50-80, mostly stock from Malaysia as their price tags are in RM. And additional 20% off when purchase 3 pairs or more. A random stranger approached me to make up her 3rd pair and so mine was $64! They are so comfy and I totally can wear them to school =) 3 pairs of black platform heels in 1 month worth over $700 but spent less than $300.

DIY Project - Frayed Sleeve Tee

I came up with my own version of this Topshop SS09 top. These days, all I can think about is cutting things up. Kinda fun but stressful making the first snip as if it goes wrong, there's nothing you can do to salvage it and it's juz another rag.

It does feel like I've airy wings

steve madden

My feet are super happy now. Have been eyeing on this pair of studded Steve Madden for awhile and even though of asking my cousin-in-law to find it for me in States but I found it in SG and for the first time, SG (after discount) is actually cheaper than States (after discount). I can't believe it too but it's true. Happy happy happy =) 4.25 inches!!!

I had so many pairs of shoes in front of me while trying and it feels like how people try on tons of shoes in shows. I'm still on the fence about these 2. I have 2 pairs of oxfords but this peep toe leather one looks really creamy and comfortable. Shall sleep over it and see how it goes.

we were once in NYGH

We had Manda's house warming/Ali's 23rd/pre CNY steamboat. At lease this steamboat wasn't a 'ball' feast unlike some other steamboat gatherings. Plus I don't think it's possible to not have sufficient food for steamboat. We always end up forcing food down our throats. hahaha. It was really fun hanging out with them.

Instead of getting a 'boring' cake, we bought 2 tubs of ice cream from Daily Scoop. OMG they sell the BEST durian ice cream ever.
Look at our orgasmic faces from the ice cream
And I had the honor of finishing the durian =)
The chocolate one isn't even half finished when durian is GONE
Multi shot was so much fun. And because the shots intervals are quite close, there's really no time to think of our next pose.

Sarah brought back wine from Milan!! Ok we can get the same thing in SG but it took aeroplane

I have yet to read this book but I've heard sooo much about it.
Everyone is working except ME. I guess I'm blessed that it's not my turn to drag my ass to work yet. I really hope to have another gathering like this during CNY.

DIY Project - Cut out tee

I finally got about cutting up a perfectly fine tee. Was so afraid that I would destroy the whole tee with juz 1 wrong cut. Thankfully it turned out really well. Anyone wanna place orders? hahaha....

Yes I was doing finger pull ups on the wall. Trying to do a lizard.

wardrobe of forgotten treasures

I was clearing up my wardrobe and guess what I found..... glossy tights, similar to the currently popular shiny Lamé leggings. If my memory serves me right, I bought them back in 2005 and used them as warm up tights (instead of track pants) for track competitions. Kinda cool =)

f21 anyone?

My cousin-in-law will be flying to States coming Thursday and his hotel is juz opposite F21's flagship store in SF. If anyone wants anything from F21 and maybe Coach, facebook me the product code, color, size etc... latest by Tuesday. No guarantees though =)

dullness

First week back at school has been boring. I still can't decide which technical elective to drop thus explaining my 4 day week. Also, FYP's a bitch. Even though I'm totally unprepared, I can't wait for Monday's presentation to be over. I guess getting Huang Zhiwei (aka Mr Crysanthemun) over BIE Head Collin Shepherd is the lesser evil since I'm supposed to be used to Mr Crysanthemun's firing questions from Biophotonics. Oh well, I don't think there's much difference even if I were to present at the end of the week so might as well get it over with and I can start my early CNY celebrations.
Haven't been sewing anything of late as I've ran out of material. Really need to stock up or maybe continue on my half completed (abandon) projects.

DIY Project - Double U-Neck Dress

The American Apparel Double U-Neck Dress is by far the most popular AA dress among fashion bloggers. I can't help but lust for one myself. The time and effort taken to make this piece might be madness but the satisfaction upon completion is freaking amazing. Sewing sleeves for the first time can be a bitch.

Dress: DIY

god gave me 2 eyes

These days, I'm not sure what I'm looking out for when I go window shopping. Pretty clothes to crave for, or clothes that can be DIY? The hardest thing about DIY is finding the perfect cloth.

current obsession - fringe and studs

I'm so pleased with my latest purchase from Zara. Despite some negative reviews, I bought it anyway since I've been eyeing on it even before it went on sale. This will give me the additional height I'm desperately in need of (4'). I'm juz surprised that my size hung on long enough to survive the first round of 30% discount for me to grab it at 50% off (it might also be because it's so ugly that no one wants it). Okay, my ankles look horrendous =(

Of course inspired by Burberry Prorsum Studded Heels

PS. I don't think that my dressing is showy in any way.

BIE Goth Night

Vinodh organized this BIE Goth Night and it was the BEST House Party I've ever attended. OMG! So much effort is put into the food, the deco, the music, lighting, EVERYTHING. It was simply AWESOME! And his parents are super funky too. They too dressed up for the party =)

This was what I had managed to assemble out of my wardrobe. I didn't know normal daily pieces can turn out to be this thrashy. And since I'll probably never dress up like that ever again, following are tons of photos to try capture the essence.

Presenting BIE '05 Goth-ettes. All looking fiece

And our BIE '05 Goth-udes. Every single one of them had makeup on!

The 4 remaining babes trying their best to look sexy, be seductive blah blah...
Eric: "That's our BIE girls man". (x 1000000)

These two are the champs. They kept opening bottles even whether everybody left. If I'm not wrong, they opened 3 new bottles and finished bottles that were half drunk. Eric was really funny. He kept repeating himself, "LQ, come help the guys take photo." 5 minutes later, "LQ, come help the guys take photo." That went on again and again and again, which explains the numerous similar shots. And since I was the only sober one (designated driver), he kept asking me whether it's funny seeing everyone around me high/drunk (x 100000000). Eric is definitely a happy drunk =)

And the guys tried living their fantasy of surrounding themselves with 'hot babes'.

At the end of the party, we helped Vinodh clear 13 bottles. Big thanks to him and his family for opening their place and providing everything. It was a hell of a party. What a great way to start a fresh new year. 2009 is gonna be AWESOME with these people around =)
