long and happy weekend (eating eating and more eating)

The past 3.5 days were spent feasting with celebrations as well as gatherings. Half day on Friday set the tune for an awesome day. And of coz all the following celebrations was a result of Nithe passing the most important exams of his life and the official start of his medical career.

Saturday brunch: Nithe's uncle treated us to Cafe Brio. We opened 2 bottles of champagne and the spread was yummy.

Saturday night: Vinodh's farewell. To celebrate him leaving the sad and pathetic engineering field and seeking new heights as a pilot.
dress: schwing schwing, heels: Zara, pearls: mum's
Look at the amount of food and booze! No wonder everyone's so happy =)

Sunday dinner: No celebration with the Cheng family is complete without a Seafood Feast at Turf City. Giant oysters and Alaskan crab =)

Monday dim sum brunch: Dim sum brunch at Pine Court with my family. My niece was confused by all the food on the table. She didn't know which one she should eat first. As usual, we ate till we could barely move. Filled till the throat.
dress: Topshop, heels: Pedder Red, bag: Balenciaga

Monday dinner: Shashlik with Nithe's paternal family. Definitely good steak at a reasonable price. As if dim sum buffet wasn't filling enough, we had to go for steak. Of coz, the buffet didn't seem to affect Nithe's appetite.

After sooooo much of feastings, my stomach is super overworked. I think I'll need to detox for the next week. I've probably gained like 3 kgs. This is awfully sinful.........

********
My boy will be flying to London for 2.5 weeks on a fully paid trip!!!!! The original plan was that I will bump around until his exams are over and go travelling together before I start looking for a job. How I wish I can take no-pay leave or quit my job to travel with him..... I'm juz keeping my fingers crossed and hope that something good will happen at work at end of this year.

US Open 2009

Of coz I'm upset that Federer didn't win US Open 2009 but Del Potro (20 years old, 1.98m, 83kg) played really well and is definitely the next big thing to watch out. Nadal is of the past. Rock-star couple Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale and Vogue editor Anna Wintour were spotted sitting in Federer's guest box, while Del Potro's was almost empty. No one really expected him to get through to the finals, let alone winning it. But his 100mph bullet forehand is indeed unstoppable. US$1.6 million + 2010 Lexus IS convertible!!!!!!
Juan Martin Del Potro
This year's US Open proves to be one with the most turns. Woman's world no. 1 Dinara Safina exited in the 3rd round, Serena Williams' outburst during the semi finals, Kim Clijsters beating BOTH Williams sisters in her third tournament after her comeback, Del Potro winning Nadal in straight sets (6-2, 6-2, 6-2) and winning 5 times defending champion, world no. 1 Roger Federer. Both champions made it through the hard way and are totally deserving. That's the beauty of sports.

tennis drama

If you still haven't heard by now, Kim Clijsters defeated monster in straight sets but that was not all. It ended with tons of drama. At the end of the first set, monster broke her racket, earning her first penalty. At the second set, a foot fault called for monster's second serve, earning Clijster a match point. Monster, not being able to control her emotions verbally assulted the line judge and earned her second penalty. Apparently, monster said this to the line judge. "I swear to God I'm... going to take this... ball and shove it down your... throat, you hear that? I swear to God." 2 penalties and a point is automatically awarded to her opponent, allowing Clijsters to win the match without playing the last point. Clijsters totally deserves her spot in the finals as should won both Williams sisters in the 4th round and semifinals respectively. 11 grand slams titles and she can't hold her cool..... So she has to pay a fine of US$10500 to learn to control herself in the future.

sorry PETAS

My visit to InnoHeart was really interesting. My VP arranged this viewing for us to allow some important clients to visit them when they come to town next month. I expected it to like those scary animal lab, with bright white lights shining on those poor specimens, hot and smell etc. but the place was nothing but impressive.

They have 4 operating suites. Angiography Suite, Hybrid Surgical-Imaging Suite, Major Surgical Suite and Micro Surgery Suite. All hooked up with live video projections. Awesome stuffs.

photos credit to InnoHeart.com

Of coz there were animals, rabbits and swines to be exact. Didn't manage to sneak any pictures but will surely try the next time I visit. The rabbits are damn cute. Super fat and white and furry, probably with blocked arteries and an implanted stent. It's bigger than those stray fat cats that are fed by hawkers. Nikki will totally be eaten up by them... Swines, not so cute. These animals get put down eventually but it's all for a good cause. A fulfilling visit =)

R&D on.....

I'm kinda excited that my boss is bring me to an animal testing facility! I'll let you guys know whether it's as cruel and scary as those seen in the movies.

feastings in A day

To officiate my contribution to the society, I treated my grandmum + family to hightea at Meritus Mandarin's Chatterbox. Of coz this made my grandmum super happy becoz I'm apparently the first grandchild in the family to 'treat' her despite me having 3 other cousins who are already working (my mum desperately wanna me get into my grandmum's good books). With all the renovations going on at the shopping arcade of the hotel, the hotel lobby seems to be shifted permanently to the 5th floor and makes it kinda confusing as we had to change lifts to get around.

ChatterBox has shifted to the top now (where top of the M used to be) and the food was alright, nothing fantastic though. The dim sum buffet at Pine Court is way way better. And probably becoz ChatterBox is famous for its chicken rice and not high tea. Oh! For the month of September, ChatterBox is having a 1-for-1 promotion for it's famous chicken rice. Dinner anyone?
Photobucket

I think it's a little cheesy that my parents were color coordinated. I have no idea whether it was on purpose or not. I desperately need to get a black/grey/dark colored bag considering the amount of black I'm wearing these days. And someone actually said that I look like the younger sister..... I have no idea whether it's a good or bad thing. hahahaha...

on me. top: ASOS, leggings: ASOS, necklace: DIY, bag: Balenciaga, heels: PedderRed

Dinner was at Ah Yat @ Turf City to celebrate Nithe's uncle's birthday. Totally a SEAFOOD FEAST. The oysters were HUGE, lobster sashimi was AWESOME (it better be when it cost $300+), drunken prawns, sharks fin, scallops, black pepper crab, fish etc. My family is super health conscious so we seldom eat seafood except fish, but Nithe's family eats seafood 80% of the time they have gatherings. Some scary cholesterol.....

shoe talk

Today during lunch, my director (male) asked me how many pairs of shoes I own.... Shocked that he even noticed since I've seen his whole wardrobe within the first week.

awesomeness =)

This has to be my favorite tee thus far. I've seen many bloggers rocking it and simply had to get one. It's a little hard to justify splurging so much on a tee but maybe I can frame it up after I'm bored of wearing it. You can get it here if interested.
